Marileidy Paulino wins 400m in Silesia to extend Diamond League streak

Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino secured her fifth victory of the 2026 Diamond League season by winning the 400-meter race in Silesia, Poland. Clocking a time of 48.87 seconds, Paulino maintained her undefeated streak in the event this season.

In the Silesia race, Paulino finished ahead of Jamaica’s Nickisha Pryce (49.49 seconds) and Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser (49.57 seconds). This performance solidifies her position at the top of the world rankings and ensures her qualification for the Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium, scheduled for early September.

Paulino has demonstrated remarkable consistency this year, having already secured wins in Doha, Paris, Monaco, and London. She has also become the first athlete to run under 49 seconds in four consecutive races during a single season. Her upcoming goals include competing in the Diamond League final and potentially breaking historical records for the number of sub-49-second performances in a season.
