Marileidy Paulino to run mixed 4×400 relay at 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

Olympic and world champion Marileidy Paulino will compete in the mixed 4×400 metres relay on Monday, 3 August, at the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez during the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. She will also run the individual 400 metres, with semifinals on 4 August and the final on 5 August. Paulino, ranked world‑number one in the event since late 2022, joined the Dominican relay team alongside Christopher Melenciano, Erick Sánchez and Anabel Medina, after Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz announced her participation and praised her humility.

The Games run from 24 July to 8 August, featuring more than 6,200 athletes from 37 delegations competing in 483 events across 40 sports. The Dominican Republic currently sits fifth on the medal table with 57 medals, including 13 gold. Other highlights include the opening of the men’s softball tournament on 3 August with seven national teams, and the Dominican karate squad travelling to the competition venue to pursue “medals of quality.” Ticket prices for Paulino’s athletics sessions are RD$800 per evening session, totaling RD$1,600 for both days of competition.
