Marileidy Paulino targets fourth Diamond League title in Brussels final

The Diamond League athletics circuit concludes with its grand final at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. The event features elite global athletes competing for diamond trophies and significant prize money, with total season prizes exceeding $18 million.

Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino, the Olympic champion and world leader in the 400 meters, enters the competition as a top favorite. She is seeking her fourth Diamond League title, having previously won in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Other notable competitors include Lurdes Gloria Manuel in the 400 meters and world record holders such as Alison dos Santos in the 400m hurdles and Masai Russell in the 100m hurdles.

The Brussels final also serves as a precursor to the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from September 11 to 13. This new high-stakes competition will feature a $10 million prize pool and a condensed format designed for elite champions.
