Marilena Karantini completes 3,421-km cycle from Copenhagen to Mount Olympus

Cyclist Marilena Karantini has completed a 3,421-kilometer journey from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Litochoro, Greece, at the foothills of Mount Olympus. The solo expedition took 52 days, starting on July 20, 2026, and concluding on September 9, 2026.

During the trek, Karantini traveled through ten countries: Denmark, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, and Greece. Aside from necessary ferry crossings between Denmark and Germany, and between Albania and Greece (via Corfu and Igoumenitsa), she relied solely on her bicycle for transportation.

Karantini, a 34-year-old who currently resides in Denmark, chose Litochoro as her destination because it is her home and Mount Olympus is a significant personal inspiration. She was officially welcomed at the Litochoro Town Hall by representatives of the Municipality of Dion-Olympus. Her future goals include participating in ultra-distance cycling races and the Hellenic Mountain Race.
