Marilândia do Sul and Marília unveil local development initiatives

The municipality of Marilândia do Sul in Brazil launched an Innovation Ecosystem on 31 May, aimed at fostering startups, sustainable business and territorial development. Mayor Walmir Peres highlighted the project as a strategic move to “connect ideas, boost new businesses and focus on innovation,” while legal adviser Abner Batista David called it “a historic milestone for our municipality.”

On the same day, the city of Marília opened its first Unit for Receiving Empty Pesticide Packaging in the Santo Barion industrial district. The facility, created in partnership with the Cooperativa Agrícola Sul Brasil de Marília and the National Institute for Empty Packaging Processing (inpEV), will collect and recycle pesticide containers, reducing travel for farmers and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Secretary of Agriculture Leonardo Mascarin said the unit “helps farmers directly, saves costs and protects the environment.”
