Marilyn Monroe centenary celebrated through Pop Art events in Italy
Multiple cultural events in Italy will celebrate the centenary of Marilyn Monroe's birth through the lens of Pop Art and contemporary creativity.
In Nepi, the tenth edition of the Divinarte festival, titled ‘When Art Meets Pop’, is scheduled for October 2–4, 2026, at the Forte dei Borgia. Organized by the AmorArte cultural association in collaboration with AIS sommeliers, the event will combine wine culture with art installations and performances. The program will feature references to masters such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, alongside Italian artists like Mario Schifano and Mimmo Rotella, exploring the intersection of mass culture and fine art.
Separately, the Palazzo delle Arti in Lecce will host the exhibition ‘Marilyn 100 – The Icon Meets Contemporary Art’ on October 17, 2026. Curated by Tiziano Giurin, the showcase examines how Monroe’s image is reinterpreted by modern artists. The exhibition includes works by various contemporary figures, including Andy Warhol, CRASH, and TVBOY, utilizing street art, sculpture, and photography to explore the relationship between celebrity and society.
