Marilyn Monroe centennial art shows open in Rome and Santa Severa

Hotel Eden in Rome, part of the Dorchester Collection, opened the exhibition “100 volte Marilyn” on 9 June to mark the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth. The show, created with Maison Bosi, presents works by Maurizio Galimberti, Andy Warhol and Mimmo Rotella, arranging the artist’s images of Monroe throughout the hotel’s public spaces. Hotel manager Daniele Colombo highlighted the project’s aim to blend art, hospitality and collective memory.

On Italy’s coast, the Castello di Santa Severa launched the “Happy Birthday to You Marilyn Monroe” exhibition on 1 June, running through 30 August 2026. Curated by Paolo Pancaldi, the show displays more than a hundred works, including pieces by Warhol, Rotella and other contemporary artists. A free theatrical performance “MARILYN MONROE. Troppo bionda per essere creduta” took place on 5 June, offering a deeper look at Monroe’s life as Norma Jeane Baker. The exhibition is supported by the Lazio regional government, the Ministry of Culture and the municipality of Santa Marinella.
