Marilyn Monroe centennial spurs Prague exhibition and California look‑alike record

The Czech Gallery of Modern Art in Prague opened an exhibition titled “Marilyn Monroe 100” to mark the legend’s 100th birthday. The show displays around 300 photographs, artworks and personal items – from contract papers with 20th Century Fox to a strand of the star’s hair – and runs until 4 October, accompanied by a new publication on Monroe’s life and legacy.

On 30 May, more than 1,000 fans gathered in Palm Springs, California, dressed in Monroe’s iconic platin‑blue wigs, red lipstick and halter dresses. Organisers say the event set a Guinness World Record for the largest assembly of Marilyn Monroe look‑alikes, celebrating the same centennial milestone.

Both events highlight the enduring global fascination with Monroe, combining artistic tribute and popular fandom across Europe and the United States.
