Marilyn Monroe personal items to be auctioned online on Aug 4

Anna Strasberg, longtime custodian of Marilyn Monroe’s estate, has placed a collection of more than one hundred personal items up for sale. The lot includes letters, photographs, a brass jewelry box bearing the monogram of Monroe’s mother, a gouache painting by Jon Whitcomb, and a portfolio of images by photographers such as Philippe Halsman, Cecil Beaton and Milton H. Greene. The auction is being run by Julien’s Auctions and will be conducted online on 4 August. Strasberg, who died in January 2024 at age 84, had preserved the items for decades, offering a rare glimpse into Monroe’s private life beyond her public image.
