Marilza Saldanha wins Ironman 70.3 Rio category

Triathlete Marilza Saldanha won her category in the Ironman 70.3 Rio de Janeiro held this past Sunday. The race, which included a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycling, and 21.1 km run, was characterized by difficult conditions, including rough seas in Copacabana, strong winds, and high heat.

Saldanha, coached by Alex Briani of Briani Assessoria Esportiva, completed the course in approximately six hours. This victory serves as a preparation milestone for the upcoming Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, scheduled for October 10. She previously secured her spot for the World Championship by winning her category at the Ironman Brasil in Florianópolis this past May.
