Marinó G. Njálsson critiques purchasing power as a prosperity metric

Consultant Marinó G. Njálsson has criticized the use of purchasing power as a primary metric for measuring prosperity. He argues that instead of focusing on percentage-based purchasing power, discussions should center on whether disposable income is sufficient to cover essential needs.

Njálsson points out a flaw in current methodologies where proportional changes can mask the reality of financial shifts. For instance, a high-income individual receiving a larger nominal raise may show a lower percentage change in purchasing power compared to a lower-income individual, despite the larger absolute increase in funds available for consumption.
