Marián Hossa Returns to Ice in Trenčín After Health Hiatus

Slovak hockey legend Marián Hossa stepped onto the ice in Trenčín for the first time in three years. The 42‑year‑old former Chicago Blackhawks forward had been forced to pause his career in 2017 because of a severe allergy to his equipment, requiring medication he compared to chemotherapy. After a period of recovery, Hossa resumed training with HK Dukla Trenčín, preparing for the upcoming farewell match of fellow Slovak great Zdeno Chára scheduled for 21 August.

Hossa’s last on‑ice appearance was the “Goodbye Game 81” exhibition on 18 August 2023, held at the Pavla Demitru Winter Stadium. During his recent practice he wore a Dukla jersey and shared his experience with current players, signalling a full return to training intensity ahead of the exhibition.
