Marin Mikulić critiques disconnect between faith and conduct in Herzegovina
Franciscan friar Marin Mikulić has issued a critique regarding the disconnect between religious practice and daily behavior in Herzegovina. In a social media statement, Mikulić noted that while the region is deeply rooted in religious customs, such as Sunday Mass and pilgrimages, these symbols do not always translate into ethical conduct.
He emphasized that true faith is demonstrated through actions rather than just wearing religious symbols. Mikulić specifically criticized practices such as nepotism, bribery, corruption, and the use of personal connections to gain advantages in business and politics. He argued that faith is most evident in how individuals treat those from whom they have nothing to gain, advocating for honesty, fair wages, and integrity.
Additionally, Mikulić defended the younger generation, suggesting they are often better than the adults who criticize them. He stated that youth do not need perfect speeches, but rather adult role models who maintain consistent values in church, at work, and in private life.
