Marin Šotiček completes loan move to Rijeka from Basel

Twenty‑one‑year‑old Croatian U‑21 winger Marin Šotiček, who had been with FC Basel, secured a loan to HNK Rijeka with an option to purchase. The deal was finalized after a last‑minute intervention by Rijeka, ending a previously announced transfer to Polish side Widzew Łódź.

Rijeka hopes the young forward will add width and depth to its attack, filling a role that the squad currently lacks. The loan arrangement may be financed in part by a prospective sale of forward Tonio Fruk, easing the club’s budget while offering Šotiček a familiar environment to continue his development.
