Marina Calderone defends expertise amid conflict of interest claims
Italian Labor Minister Marina Calderone has addressed allegations of conflict of interest raised by the Movimento 5 Stelle and media reports. During an appearance in Reggio Calabria, Calderone defended her professional background as a labor consultant, arguing that her expertise is a value addition to her public role rather than a hindrance. The controversy stems from a competition law proposal that would allow labor consultants to file financial statements with the Business Register, a privilege currently held by accountants.
Separately, recent polling data from Lab21 indicates that Calderone is currently the most trusted minister in Italy. According to the Trex1000 monitoring, she holds a 52.9% approval rating, making her the only minister to exceed the 51% threshold. Other ministers showing high levels of trust include Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and Anna Maria Bernini, while Antonio Tajani and Alessandro Giuli recorded the lowest approval ratings in the ranking.
