Marina Logarušić calls for minimum wage tax exemptions in Croatia

Marina Logarušić, president of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), has called for the exemption of the minimum wage from income tax. Speaking on Z1 television, she argued that while nominal wages appear to be rising, the actual standard of living is declining due to the rising costs of food, housing, and utilities.

Logarušić highlighted that the personal tax deduction has not kept pace with inflation, increasing only marginally from approximately 520 to 600 euros. She noted that a worker on minimum wage pays roughly 620 euros in annual income tax, an amount nearly equivalent to one month's salary.

The HSP leader also raised concerns regarding the economic decline in the Slavonija region. She pointed to the stagnation of local industry, citing the decline of employment at companies like Đuro Đaković in Slavonski Brod, and warned that low wages and job insecurity are driving young people to emigrate to Western countries.
