Marina Silva faces party funding disputes and debate clashes

Marina Silva, a candidate for the Senate in São Paulo representing Rede Sustentabilidade, is facing internal party conflict regarding the distribution of the electoral fund. Allies accuse the party leadership of political persecution, noting that Silva received R$ 1 million, a significantly lower amount than other candidates such as Luizianne Lins (R$ 2.2 million) and Heloísa Helena (R$ 2.8 million). This financial dispute reflects a deeper power struggle within the party between Silva’s group and the faction led by Heloísa Helena.

During a Senate debate hosted by Estadão and Faap, Silva also addressed public policy and infrastructure. She criticized the current system of parliamentary amendments, calling them a “usurpation of Executive powers” and demanding greater transparency. Additionally, she argued that the privatization of Sabesp has negatively impacted water supply and sanitation, particularly in vulnerable municipalities in the interior of São Paulo.

The debate featured heated exchanges, including a confrontation with PP candidate Guilherme Derrite. Derrite criticized Silva’s stance on social programs, claiming she and President Lula are “two of a kind,” while defending the Bolsa Família adjustments made during the Bolsonaro administration.
