Marina Silva's legal team seeks investigation after attempted assault

Legal representatives for Marina Silva, a candidate for the Senate in São Paulo, have filed a formal complaint with the Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) following an attempted assault on the former minister. The incident occurred on Monday during a women's march in central São Paulo, part of a campaign event for gubernatorial candidate Fernando Haddad.

According to the defense, an unidentified man approached Silva, grabbed her shoulder aggressively, and shouted hostile remarks. The legal team is requesting a police investigation, preferably by the Federal Police, to investigate potential political violence against women and violations of Article 326-B of the Electoral Code. They are also seeking measures to prohibit the aggressor from approaching or contacting the candidate once identified.

Simone Tebet, a candidate for the Senate and former Minister of Planning, publicly repudiated the incident, stating that such aggressions against women should not be normalized during an election period. Silva described the event as an attempt to push women out of public spaces.
