Marine industry highlights strategic shifts and new technology at major boat shows
Major European boating events are highlighting different strategic priorities within the maritime industry. At the Cannes Yachting Festival, director Constance Brément stated that the event is shifting its focus toward quality and diversity of offerings rather than simply increasing the total number of boats on display. The festival aims to enhance commercial value and exhibitor return on investment by providing a broad range of products, including sailing boats, motorboats, and marine equipment, to approximately 55,000 annual visitors.
In contrast, the Southampton International Boat Show is showcasing practical technological advancements and gear upgrades. Notable displays include Icom’s ultra-slim IC-M430 fixed-mount VHF and Class B AIS transponders, as well as AquaAmp’s rugged 12V DC charging solutions, such as wireless Qi2.2 charging pads and high-output USB-C chargers designed for marine environments.
