National Rally faces Russian criticism over stance on Moscow

Dmitri Medvedev, the Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, has accused the French National Rally (RN) of becoming a 'Russophobic' party. This shift follows recent statements by Marine Le Pen and party leader Jordan Bardella, who condemned Russia's seizure of assets belonging to the French retailer Auchan as 'hostile acts'.

Le Pen and Bardella issued a joint statement asserting that Russia cannot dictate French policy through intimidation, threats, or psychological pressure. They criticized Moscow's actions regarding European companies like Auchan and Nestle as direct infringements on European interests.

In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov maintained a more moderate tone, stating that Russia is not threatening or blackmailing anyone and expressed categorical disagreement with the National Rally's claims. Medvedev, however, characterized the party as an 'ordinary European party' that supports 'Nazis in Kyiv' due to its stance on French sanctions and military aid to Ukraine.
