Marine Le Pen outlines key policy proposals for 2027
Marine Le Pen, leader of the Rassemblement National, has outlined several key policy proposals as part of her political trajectory and potential 2027 presidential ambitions.
Regarding religious and social issues, Le Pen proposed a progressive ban on the veil, starting with universities, sports federations, and public buildings before potentially extending to public streets. She framed this as a fight against “totalitarian ideologies” rather than a strictly secularist measure. However, she clarified her stance by stating that “Islam is compatible with the Republic,” distinguishing religious practice from Sharia or Islamist fundamentalism.
On economic and social policy, Le Pen detailed a pension reform plan. She suggested that individuals who began working before age 20 could retire at 60 with 40 years of contributions, while others would see retirement ages gradually set up to 62 with 42 years of contributions. Additionally, she advocated for lower production taxes and a reduction in French financial aid to Ukraine.
In the institutional sphere, Le Pen and her parliamentary group have engaged in friction with state organs, including a formal request for the resignation of Constitutional Council President Richard Ferrand, alleging a failure to respect his duty of reserve.
