Marine Le Pen visits Auvergne livestock summit to propose agricultural reforms

Marine Le Pen, leader of the Rassemblement National, resumed her presidential campaign activities at the Sommet de l'élevage in Auvergne, engaging directly with livestock farmers. During her visit, she proposed several measures aimed at supporting the agricultural sector, including ordinances to reduce regulatory burdens, a tax system adapted to the unpredictable nature of farming, and improved facilities for the transmission of family farms.

Local agricultural unions reacted with varying degrees of support. Sabine Tholoniat, president of the FDSEA, described Le Pen’s remarks as ‘positive’ and ‘reassuring.’ Conversely, François Walraet, secretary general of Coordination rurale, expressed a more cautious stance, suggesting that as Le Pen moves closer to power, she may no longer be able to make all the promises she once did.

Le Pen also used the event to reiterate her support for Jordan Bardella amid recent accusations against him. Additionally, her platform faces scrutiny regarding potential contradictions between her pledge to protect the Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) and her previous threats to challenge Brussels to reduce France’s contribution to the European budget.
