Marine life sightings and environmental initiatives reported in California

Various marine life observations and environmental science events are being highlighted along the California coast. In the Santa Barbara Channel, recent sightings included approximately 4,000 common dolphins, 8 humpback whales, 4 minke whales, 1 fin whale, and 20 California sea lions.

Educational programming in the Bay Area includes presentations on marine mammals in the San Francisco Bay and discussions regarding the use of drones in cetacean research. Additionally, Sonoma Clean Power is working toward 100% renewable energy by developing up to 600 MW of local geothermal power in northeastern Sonoma.
