Maringá receives R$10 million for health upgrades and adopts new municipal health proposals

The state government of Paraná allocated more than R$10 million to strengthen Maringá’s public‑health network. The package includes six new ambulances—four for the municipality and two for the regional SAMU consortium—valued at R$2.7 million, and funding to build a Mixed Health Unit in Iguatemi (R$4.5 million for infrastructure and R$2 million for equipment) and a Type‑2 Basic Health Unit in Floriano (R$1.2 million). State Health Secretary César Neves said the investment aims to provide permanent, higher‑quality care across the region.

On the same day, Maringá held its 16th Municipal Health Conference, where more than 30 proposals developed in local health forums were debated. Delegates selected 20 of those proposals to represent the city at the upcoming State Health Conference in Curitiba. Key proposals focus on expanding and qualifying CAPS for mental‑health care, increasing funding for SUS services, and improving integrated primary‑care models. Mayor Silvio Barros and Health Secretary Antônio Carlos Nardi highlighted the importance of these measures for better access and preventive health in the community.
