Maringá records nearly 240,000 speeding fines via radar

In Maringá, speeding has become the most frequent traffic violation in 2026, according to data from the Secretariat of Urban Mobility. Between January and July, speed cameras recorded 239,977 infractions, accounting for approximately 78.6% of the 305,466 total citations issued during that period.

Monthly data shows that July saw the highest volume of radar-based fines with 37,174 records, while February recorded the lowest with 26,548. On average, the city recorded more than 1,100 citations per day via radar systems.

To combat risky driving and prevent accidents, the Maringá City Hall has intensified enforcement through the ‘Maringá pela Vida’ movement. Recent operations involving the Municipal Civil Guard, Military Police, and Federal Highway Police included checkpoints on São Paulo and Senador Petrônio Portela avenues, resulting in several vehicle impoundments and citations.
