Maringá vehicle fleet grows by 4.35% in 2026

The vehicle fleet in Maringá, Paraná, increased by 4.35% in 2026, according to data from the Paraná Transit Department (Detran-PR). The city recorded an addition of approximately 15,689 vehicles compared to the previous year, bringing the total number of registered vehicles to roughly 376,604.

This growth aligns with a broader trend across the state of Paraná, which reached a historic record of 9,459,926 vehicles in September, a 6.2% increase compared to September 2025. Key drivers for this expansion include a reduction in the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) rate to 1.9%, increased demand for electric vehicles, and the rising use of cars and motorcycles for work, particularly within transport and delivery applications.

Among Paraná's 24 municipalities with populations of 100,000 or more, Maringá ranks 17th in terms of percentage growth. Curitiba led the group with a 13.83% increase, followed by Fazenda Rio Grande, Piraquara, São José dos Pinhais, and Umuarama.
