Mariánské Lázně coalition shifts as Naše Česko joins ANO
Political negotiations in Mariánské Lázně have reached a turning point following a sudden shift by the Naše Česko movement. Martin Hurajčík, leader of the ANO movement and current mayor, announced that a new coalition agreement has been reached between ANO, Změna pro Mariánské Lázně, and Naše Česko. This arrangement aims to secure a majority in the 21-member council to continue ongoing projects and investments.
This development follows a previous agreement where Naše Česko had joined forces with STAN, the Pirates, ODS, and KDU-ČSL to form a majority excluding ANO. The sudden change has caused significant friction within Naše Česko. South Bohemian Governor Kuba expressed strong disapproval of representative Samuel Zabolotný, who supported the coalition with ANO despite having previously signed an agreement with other parties. Kuba stated that the movement may have to part ways with Zabolotný if he continues to support the ANO coalition.
Zabolotný defended his decision, stating that his cooperation agreement with Hurajčík was established prior to the announcement of the opposition's pact. He noted that negotiations with other groups failed to yield concrete programmatic priorities, such as the reconstruction of the local cable car.
