Mariánské Lázně hosts dual eclipses—black‑light theatre show and solar partial eclipse in 13 days
On Thursday 30 July 2026 at 19:30 the Municipal Theatre in Mariánské Lázně will present a special performance by the HILT Black Light Theatre. The show, described by its founder and artistic director Theodor Hoidekr as a “full eclipse” of the stage, uses black‑light, dance, visual illusion and costumes that blend into darkness, creating a theatrical experience where light disappears and the narrative is built from shadows.
Two weeks later, on Wednesday 12 August 2026, a partial solar eclipse will cross the Czech Republic. From Mariánské Lázně the eclipse will be visible low on the western horizon in the early evening, with the greatest phase around 20:06 CET and lasting until sunset. While the indoor performance is weather‑proof and requires no special eyewear, viewing the solar eclipse will need certified eclipse glasses.
Both events highlight the shared focus on precise manipulation of light and shadow, linking artistic expression with an astronomical phenomenon within a short span of thirteen days.
