Mario Alberto Rendón launches mayoral bid for Tepeaca, Puebla
Mario Alberto Rendón Oliva, a 35‑year‑old former secretary to Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier and ex‑businessman, has announced his intention to run as the Morena candidate for municipal president of Tepeaca, a town of about 90,000 residents in Puebla. Rendón, who grew up in Tepeaca, says his platform will focus on reducing poverty and insecurity through a circular‑economy approach, reviving the abandoned Central de Abasto, and promoting the region’s agricultural, religious‑tourism and marble‑craft sectors. He stresses generational renewal, environmental stewardship and community involvement, noting that the municipality, long dominated by the PRI, has shifted to Morena in recent elections.
The campaign comes as Tepeaca prepares for the upcoming Feria de Huitzilan, a regional fair expected to draw around 30,000 visitors, highlighting the town’s cultural and economic activity.
