Mario Calabresi discusses potential 2027 Milan mayoral candidacy

Journalist and former director of Repubblica, Mario Calabresi, has revealed ongoing discussions regarding a potential candidacy for mayor of Milan in 2027. Calabresi stated that he has been in dialogue with the Democratic Party (PD) and the Milanese center-left for approximately two years.

Calabresi emphasized the necessity of holding primary elections to encourage voter participation and foster debate on the city's future. He described his political stance as moderate in tone but radical regarding the changes required for the city, specifically citing housing, the environment, mobility, and increased citizen engagement as priorities.

Additionally, Calabresi expressed specific policy positions, including a critical view of the proposed demolition of the San Siro stadium and a distinction from Pierfrancesco Majorino regarding the twinning of Milan with Tel Aviv.
