Mario Caparra, influential Chaco poet and writer, dies at 44

The Chaco cultural community is mourning the death of writer and poet Mario Caparra, who passed away at the age of 44 in Resistencia. Caparra was a prominent figure in the region's independent literary scene, known for his work as an essayist, novelist, and educator.

Throughout his career, Caparra held a Master's in Writing from the Universidad del Salvador in Spain and spent over two decades leading workshops, seminars, and poetic-musical performances. He was a co-founder of the Ananga Ranga workshop and publishing house, and a member of the Colectivo Waykhuli, which manages the Waykhuli magazine.

His published works include ‘Poemas de Tractores’ (2002), ‘Dios TV’ (2004), ‘Último tango en parir’ (2006), ‘Sobras Completas’ (2009), and ‘Morir no es para cualquiera’ (2020). He also co-authored ‘Arquitextos’ in 2010. Caparra received several honors, including the National Carpani Prize in 2000 and the Provincial Veiravé in 2002.
