Mario Covas Neto seeks expulsion of PSDB-SP president
Mario Covas Neto, son of the former Governor of São Paulo, has formally requested the expulsion of Paulo Serra, the state president of the PSDB in São Paulo, from the party. The request, submitted to the PSDB National Executive, also calls for an immediate intervention in the state directory.
Covas Neto, who serves as a national director of the Instituto Teotônio Vilela, accuses Serra of party infidelity and failing to adhere to internal decisions during the electoral campaign. A primary grievance is Serra’s public support for Senate candidates André do Prado (PL) and Guilherme Derrite (PP), which contradicts the decisions of the PSDB-Cidadania federation and undermines party discipline.
The petition cites party statutes that allow for the expulsion of members who support candidates from other parties during elections in which the PSDB is participating. Additionally, Covas Neto criticized a political event organized by Serra and his wife, Ana Carolina Serra, involving the aforementioned candidates, labeling it an action taken ‘à margem das deliberações’ (outside of deliberations) that caused institutional embarrassment and internal fragmentation.
