Mario Crnković vows to block nuclear waste depot on Bosnia‑Croatia border

Mario Crnković, president of the civil‑society group “Grin tim” from Novi Grad, said it is everyone's duty to defend the right to life and announced he will attend a round‑table in Zagreb to voice opposition to the planned radioactive‑waste disposal site at Trgovska Gora on the Bosnia‑Herzegovina border. Crnković criticised the proposal, noting that the environmental impact study has not been published, the site‑selection process is still ongoing, and three international conventions appear to have been violated. He also pointed out that no official representatives from the Republic of Srpska, the Federation of Bosnia‑Herzegovina, or the state‑level Bosnian authorities were invited to the panel. The discussion, organized by the Serbian National Council, will focus on ecological, economic, traffic and safety aspects of locating a nuclear‑waste centre in the border area. Bosnia and Herzegovina have expressed a unified stance to use legal and diplomatic tools to protect their interests and prevent possible environmental and health damage.
