Mario Daniele Piccioni appointed president of AMIU Puglia

Bari Mayor Vito Leccese has appointed a new board of directors for AMIU Puglia S.p.A., the regional waste management company. Professor Mario Daniele Piccioni, an engineering professor at the Politecnico di Bari, will serve as the new president. He is joined by board members Angela Salierno and Antonio Cappiello for a three-year term.

The new leadership succeeds outgoing president Antonella Lomoro, who managed the company through various organizational and technical challenges, including issues with the mechanical-biological treatment plant and the startup of a new anaerobic digester.

The incoming board faces the critical task of improving service efficiency and innovation. A primary objective for the current administration is to reach a 65% waste separation rate within the next three years.
