Mario Gattari, 91, Long‑Serving Tolentino Municipal Officer, Dies

Mario Gattari, a 91‑year‑old former municipal messenger and gonfaloniere of Tolentino, died on July 24, 2026. He was widely known in the city for his dedication, often attending major civic events in his blue uniform.

Mayor Mauro Sclavi praised Gattari’s commitment, noting that he chose to be buried wearing his gonfaloniere insignia, a gesture that moved many. The funeral was held at the Basilica of San Nicola, and Gattari is survived by his daughters Nadia, Antonella and Stefania.
