Mario Gila chose AC Milan over Inter Milan
Spanish defender Mario Gila has revealed that he chose to join AC Milan over Inter Milan during the summer transfer window. Speaking at the Trento Sports Festival, Gila stated that while Inter expressed interest, he found the prospect of helping Milan return to their former glory more satisfying than joining a team that is already winning.
Gila transferred from Lazio to Milan for 30 million euros, signing a five-year contract. He has since become a regular in Ruben Amorim’s defensive lineup, making six appearances this season.
Reports indicate that Inter Milan ultimately decided not to pursue the deal aggressively, opting instead to allocate their budget toward other areas. The club prioritized defensive reinforcements through the arrival of John Stones and focused on other positions, such as the right flank and midfield, following the acquisitions of Djed Spence and Curtis Jones.
