Mario Gila transfer talks intensify as Napoli eyes Lorenzo Lucca swap with Lazio

Napoli and Lazio are negotiating a player exchange that would see Spanish defender Mario Gila move to the Neapolitan club in return for striker Lorenzo Lucca. Lazio has set Gila’s price at €25‑30 million, citing his contract which runs until 2025 and a 50 % sell‑on clause owed to Real Madrid. The club needs to raise about €19.5 million by the 30 June deadline to meet its financial target and could achieve that by offloading Gila.

Napoli, seeking to lower its spending and retain key forwards, is considering offering Lucca, a 2.01 m striker who struggled after a €35 million signing last summer. Lucca made only three goals in 32 appearances and spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest. Lazio’s new coach, Gennaro Gattuso, has identified a new centre‑forward as a priority, keeping Lucca on the table as a potential solution for both clubs.

If the swap proceeds, it would address Napoli’s squad balance and help Lazio meet its budgetary goals ahead of the summer transfer window.
