Mario Giuliacci criticizes insults received over weather forecasts
Meteorologist Mario Giuliacci expressed frustration during an appearance on the Rete4 program ‘E’ sempre Cartabianca’ regarding the personal insults he has received following his weather forecasts. Giuliacci noted that he has been called names such as ‘scemo’ (stupid) and ‘vecchio’ (old) due to misunderstandings regarding the end of heatwaves.
He emphasized that weather forecasting is not about providing absolute certainty and criticized those who expect infallible predictions. Giuliacci also addressed the ongoing climate trends, noting that the Mediterranean Sea has warmed by 2 degrees and that extreme heat days in Italy have significantly increased compared to previous years. He predicted that heat conditions could persist until mid-September.
