Mario Hezonja locked into Real Madrid until 2029, NBA exit only option
Croatian forward Mario Hezonja has signed a contract with Real Madrid that runs through 2029. The agreement contains a single exit clause that permits a move only if an NBA opportunity materialises, making his departure from the Spanish club highly unlikely without such interest.
Hezonja, who joined Real Madrid in 2022 and renewed his deal in 2024, has become a cornerstone of the team. In the 2025‑26 EuroLeague he posted averages of 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists over 44 games, helping Madrid reach the Final Four in Athens. Domestically he was named MVP of the Liga Endesa regular season, averaging 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He previously won the EuroLeague title with Madrid in 2023 and remains a regular on the Croatian national team.
