Mario Hezonja returns to NBA with Cleveland Cavaliers

Mario Hezonja has returned to the NBA after five years playing in Europe, signing a one-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland head coach Kenny Atkinson expressed high expectations for the 31-year-old Croatian forward, noting that Hezonja has returned as a more complete and physically stronger player. Atkinson highlighted Hezonja’s weight of 116 kilograms and his improved ability to defend and punish pick-and-rolls.

Hezonja, who previously played for the Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers, arrives in Cleveland following a successful stint in Europe, including winning the 2024-25 EuroLeague MVP award. Recent social media interactions suggest Hezonja is enthusiastic about his new team, as he engaged positively with a fan post featuring his new Cavaliers jersey.
