Mario Hezonja seeks exit from Real Madrid to return to NBA

Mario Hezonja, who signed a contract with Real Madrid that runs until 2029, is pressing for a departure from the Spanish club. His agreement contains an NBA out‑clause worth about $850,000 that remains active until the end of July, allowing him to leave if an NBA contract is secured. He is already in contact with several NBA franchises and hopes to resume his career in the United States.

The player’s dissatisfaction stems from recent internal changes at Real Madrid, including the reinstatement of Juan Carlos Santos in a senior administrative role and the exit of former head coach Sergio Scariolo, with whom Hezonja had a close relationship. His new agent, Misko Raznatović, has been handling the NBA outreach as the club undergoes a broader reorganisation under sporting director Pedro Martineth.
