Mario Perrotta’s ‘Nel blu’ to perform at Capo Arte Teatro Festival

The theatrical production ‘Nel blu’, directed by and starring Mario Perrotta, will be performed at Torre Marrana as part of the Capo Arte Teatro Festival on August 22. The play, which won the 2025 Premio Ubu for Best Sound Project, offers an intimate account of the life of singer Domenico Modugno.

The performance traces Modugno’s journey from his origins in Puglia to his massive success at the 1958 Sanremo Music Festival with the iconic song ‘Nel blu dipinto di blu’. The production explores the themes of the Italian economic boom and the pursuit of happiness during that era.

Perrotta will be joined on stage by musicians Vanni Crociani, Massimo Marches, and Giuseppe Franchellucci, who also contributed to the musical arrangements. The production is a collaboration between Permar Compagnia Mario Perrotta and Emilia-Romagna Teatro (ERT / Teatro Nazionale).
