Mario Roggero describes prison experience as devastating

Mario Roggero, a 72-year-old jeweler, has written a letter from Bollate prison describing his incarceration as “devastating” both psychologically and physically. Roggero is serving a definitive sentence of 14 years and 9 months.

The conviction stems from a 2021 incident in Grinzane Cavour, where Roggero killed two robbers and injured a third following an assault on his jewelry store. In his letter, Roggero noted that being confined has forced him to reflect on the events and confront a reality composed of people entirely unknown to him. He also expressed gratitude to the Italian public for their continued support.
