Mario Sanchez wins Chef Manager of the Year at Foodservice Cateys

Mario Sanchez, a chef based in Aberdeen, has been named Chef Manager of the Year at the 2026 Foodservice Cateys. Sanchez leads a catering team of 12 for BaxterStorey Scotland at the NeoNext+ Aberdeen location, overseeing daily operations for approximately 600 people.

The award recognizes his culinary skills, commitment to sustainability, and efforts to mentor future chefs. Sanchez has implemented initiatives to reduce food waste by transforming surplus ingredients into new dishes and prioritizing seasonal produce. Additionally, he supports professional development through BaxterStorey’s Chef Academy and provides hospitality work placements in collaboration with The King’s Trust.
