Mario Zamora proposes state financial institution for Sinaloa
Federal Deputy Mario Zamora is proposing the creation of a state-level financial institution for Sinaloa, Mexico, to restore access to credit for key economic sectors. During a working visit to Washington, D.C., Zamora outlined a plan to develop a financing scheme specifically designed for producers, ranchers, fishermen, aquaculture workers, and small business owners who currently struggle to secure affordable loans.
The proposed model aims to combine state resources with financing and technical assistance from international organizations. Zamora, drawing on his previous experience leading the Financiera Nacional de Desarrollo, intends to leverage relationships with entities such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to explore mechanisms applicable to Sinaloa’s specific needs.
Zamora stated that providing competitive credit terms is essential for reactivating the state's economy, supporting productive projects, and generating employment. He emphasized that the goal is to provide financing under conditions that producers can realistically repay.
