Marios Salmas signals intent to join potential Antonis Samaras party

Independent MP Marios Salmas has expressed his intention to politically align with former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, should the latter proceed with the creation of a new political party. Salmas stated that he and Samaras have met and discussed potential cooperation, noting that they share approximately 90% political agreement.

Salmas explained his decision to break away from the New Democracy party, citing a lack of political ethics and a failure to combat corruption within the current administration. He noted that both he and Samaras were essentially told by leadership that their values did not fit within New Democracy.

While there is significant political speculation regarding Samaras's next moves, including the potential for him to lead a coalition government, he has not yet officially announced the formation of a new party. Current discussions remain based on political assessments and preparations rather than a finalized announcement.
