Mariovo wildfire extinguished after seven days of fighting

A major wildfire in the Mariovo region near Prilep has been fully extinguished following seven days of continuous firefighting efforts. Dejan Prodanoski, the Mayor of Prilep Municipality, confirmed that the blaze is now under complete control.

The firefighting operation involved a massive mobilization of resources, including the Territorial Firefighting Unit of Prilep, the Army, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, and various volunteer firefighting societies from Bitola, Kochani, Kavadarci, and Vinica. Local residents, farmers with private machinery, and socially responsible companies also assisted in the efforts.

In addition to the primary Mariovo fire, crews successfully localized other outbreaks near Mazuchishte, Malo Konjari, and Golemo Konjari. The Mayor issued an appeal for citizens to remain vigilant, noting that extreme heat and dry conditions increase the risk of new fires being sparked by negligence.
