Marisa Michelini awarded 2026 Physics Didactics Prize

Marisa Michelini, a professor of physics didactics and history at the University of Udine, has been awarded the 2026 Physics Didactics Prize by the Italian Physical Society. The award, presented by President Angela Bracco, recognizes Michelini’s three decades of commitment to research, teacher training, and the development of collaborations between schools and universities.

Throughout her career at the University of Udine, Michelini has held various leadership roles, including serving as a university delegate from 1994 to 2022. Her contributions include founding the Orientation and Tutoring Center, the Interdepartmental Center for Didactic Research, and the Faculty of Education Sciences. She has also directed the Physics Department and the Physics Didactics Laboratory.

Michelini has received several international honors, including the Girep Medal in 2024, making her the first Italian scholar to receive the award from the International Research Group on Physics Teaching. In 2013, she became the first woman elected president of Girep, serving two terms. Her previous accolades include the Medal of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics in 2019.
