Marisa Monte receives Medalha Tiradentes in Rio de Janeiro

Singer Marisa Monte has been awarded the Medalha Tiradentes, the highest honor bestowed by the state of Rio de Janeiro. The ceremony took place at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj), where the award was presented by former Environment Minister Carlos Minc.

The medal is reserved for individuals or institutions that have provided significant services to the society and the state of Rio de Janeiro. During the event, Monte performed her song ‘Vilarejo’ accompanied by Pretinho da Serrinha and the Camerata Jovem RJ. The ceremony also featured the participation of Filhos da Águia da Portela, a youth samba school for which Monte serves as a godmother.
