Mariska de Jong wins world championship in medical tattooing

Mariska de Jong, a specialist from Breda, has been named the world champion in nipple reconstruction tattooing. She secured the title at the World Universal League of Permanent Makeup competition held in Turkey.

De Jong, who has worked in medical tattooing for fifteen years at a skin clinic, competed against 57 other participants. The competition required specialists to perform reconstructions on latex surfaces without photographic references, relying on memory and technical skill within a one-hour timeframe.

Her work focuses on areola reconstruction for individuals who have undergone breast surgery or cancer treatments. Having undergone surgeries herself, De Jong described her profession as highly valuable.
